Word for the Weekend: PENTECOST SUNDAY

It's time to prepare for Pentecost Sunday!

If you haven't been praying the Novena for Pentecost Novena, just scroll down to find the daily entries that began last Friday, May 10.

You'll want to note that there are different options for texts for the Pentecost Vigil Mass if you'll be worshiping on Saturday afternoon or evening. A parish celebrating a full Pentecost Vigil might have as many as four readings. A different set of readings is provided for Mass on the day of Pentecost.  Of course, pondering and praying over this weekend's readings is an excellent way to get ready to celebrate this feast. The texts and commentary on them for the vigil Mass are here and for Mass on Sunday here.  General commentary on the feast is found here.

Got kids? Then check here to help them prepare for Mass. (The children's site focuses only on the readings for Sunday's celebration of Pentecost.)

Perhaps as you sit down to read and ponder the scriptures for Mass this weekend, you might check the widget at the top of the sidebar and listen to some beautiful Pentecost music for your prayer and reflection...
