Chosen From All Women
It has been a long, wonderful day! Our parish returned to its regular (non-summer) schedule for Sundays and our 11:30 Mass was celebrated al fresco in the back yard of the rectory. Not too much sun, but no rain since last night's storms so no one was complaining. As long a morning as this schedule provides, it was good to see so many faces returning after being away for the summer.
This evening was our celebration of the Nativity of the Virgin Mary with Evening Prayer at 7:00 followed by a concert given by one of our cantors, Lauren Sprague and one of our accompanists, Carol Messina. Titled Chosen From All Women, the concert was of the highest quality and musical beauty. I will write about it at greater length tomorrow. For now, suffice it to say that our parish owes a great deal to Lauren and Carol for the gift they gave us tonight.
The image above is titled the Madonna of the Streets. It was one of my mother's favorites and I'm pleased to share it with you here. For background information on this Madonna, link here.
