The Pieta

Local readers are familiar with the Pieta (above) located on the green to the side of the rectory. It bears the marks of a green mold and one of the fingers of the figure of Mary is missing. A generous parishioner has offered to have the statue professionally restored and work on this project began on the morning of September 12.

I am interested in knowing the origin of the statue, when it was placed on the green and who may have given the statue to the parish. Any information you have would be helpful. I will continue to update you on the progress of this work which, weather permitting, should take about three weeks.
