They're Baa-aack!

Holy Family Parish gathers to celebrate the Eucharist on the Lord's Day

All those folks with summer homes are back! All the folks who have been traveling a good part of the summer are back! All the folks who taken "a vacation from church" in the summer - are back! And it's great to see you all!

This coming weekend (September 8/9) we return to our regular schedule of Mass on Saturdays at 5:00 p.m. and on Sunday mornings at 7:30, 9:30 and 11:30 a.m. As much as I enjoyed the lighter summer schedule, I look forward to seeing so many who have been away and seeing our church filling up again. If your summer vacation brought you some interesting experiences of Sunday worship in places near or far, please share them with the rest of us in the comment box! Worshiping apart from our regular experience is often an instructive exercise.

Over the last few weeks I've met a number of people new to our parish who have introduced themselves to me on their way out of Mass. (Please forgive me if I don't remember your names the next time I see you - it takes me a while!) So often newcomers will comment on how happy they are to have found a parish where the worship is alive, the preaching meaningful and the music beautiful. One of the things newcomers most often say is, "Wow! The people in this parish really sing!" And you do, praise God!

I continually meet individuals and families who, for any number of reasons, have been away from church and are beginning to "look for a church" where they feel at home. Such seekers are always welcome at Holy Family. Some such folks are Catholics who have drifted away from church affiliation and others are people exploring faith in its different expressions. Such seekers are always welcome at Holy Family. Sadly, some folks have separated from the Catholic church because they have felt turned away by a particular parish or pastor, or by Catholicism itself. Such seekers are always welcome at Holy Family.

If you find yourself in any of the descriptions above and would like to talk some things over, please know that I or Sr. Rose Marie would be more than pleased to meet with you.
