Happy Halloween!

Over my years in Concord I've often suited myself up for Halloween in a number of disguises. While I'm not doing that this year, I've been thinking about those costumes and recall that I've been Charlie Brown, a pirate, the universe, a ghost, Uncle Sam, a beach comber, a skunk and a scare crow. Any local folks remember other get-ups I've donned?

Have a great night trick-or-treating! Carry flash lights and be careful when crossing streets!

  1. Were you ever a cowboy?? Maybe I'm thinking of the hat you wore while a beach comber.

  2. No, not a cowboy - but I did wear a straw hat as the beachcomber!

  3. Were you a grumpy old man?
    Oh wait...that wasn't dress up!

    Just kidding!

  4. How long has it been since you dressed up for Halloween? Did you go door to door trick or treating or did someone have a party? Sorry I missed seeing all of this fun!!! You never cease to surprise!

  5. P.S. If anyone took pictures, would you care to share on your blog?!

  6. Daisy: When I lived in a rectory at 1404 Main St in West Concord, I had a long double driveway and parking on the street right in front of the house. There was a big front porch there and an entry way between the outside and the inside front doors. For years I would decorate the entry way either in coordination with my costume or just in scary black/orange Halloween things.

I didn't go door to door - but many folks in the parish came to my door, many driving their kids for a stop at my house. If my memory serves well, I did this from 1994-2002.

I don't have pictures but if anyone does and can forward them to me in a form I can post, I'd be happy to do that.

  7. I think I have some pictures of a skunk and a pirate at least! Now the secret is FINDING them! Will let you know if I am successful.

  8. I might add that your reputation spread further than families from the parish! Non-parishioners and non-Catholic alike came to your door year after year. It was a great way to share your love and fun-loving nature with the young and old of the neighborhood. What a great memory...
