When saints are, well... too saintly!

Margaret of Scotland: stained glass by Frank Gordon

Today's saint lived in the 11th century and her outreach to the poor, from her royal circumstances, was truly admirable. But what can we do when saints see, well... too saintly! St. Margaret is one whose example is so great that we might be tempted to walk away from it, thinking it's just too much to consider imitating. When that's the case, what we can do is ask ourselves, "Well, then, what am I able to do that might mirror a little better in my life the spirit I see in this saint's life?"

God never asks me to be someone else. God doesn't hold me accountable to the standards of another person's life. I'm only asked to be the most loving, giving person I can be. The example of the saints, like today's, can help stretch my thinking about what God asks me to offer.
