Many are cold but few are frozen!





Last year, Diana over at at Work of the People posted some even chillier photos (see my post below) of blessing the waters on the feast of the Baptism of the Lord in the Eastern rites.

Although a few may choose, on this feast, to go into the waters, most are satisfied with taking some home in containers!

(For those who are wondering: we use warm water for baptism in our immersion font!)

  1. No offense, but I'd hate to be that young boy! Couldn't they have waited for a more warmer climate?

  2. I don't have particulars about the picture but I do not think it's a baptism. Liturgist Adrian Nocent tells us and other photos on the internet confirm that some folks choose to take a dip in the blessed waters on Epiphany or on the Feast of the Baptism of the Lord, in spite of the temperatures. I think this youngster might be in that category. If it is his baptism, I doubt that he would have been denied an alternative.
