The Baptism of the Lord by Elizabeth Wang
This weekend we celebrate the feast of the Baptism of the Lord and this will mark the end of the Advent Christmas cycle for the Year of Grace 2008.
To prepare for this Sunday's liturgy, take some time to read, study and pray over the scriptures of the day and do a little background reading on those texts to deepen your understanding of them.
For months now I've been offering this suggestion on a weekly basis (with a follow-up "reminder" closer to Sunday) and giving you two links to follow: one to the scripture texts and one to the background material. I just noticed that sending you to the St. Louis University Center for Liturgy site will give you both the texts and the background. So beginning this week I'll give you the one link.
When you get to the SLU site, click on Get to Know the Readings where clicking on any of the texts there will bring you to all three at once. (And take a look at the other menu choices as well!)
