How's your Lent been?

That may be a tough question for us to face as we near the end of Lent. But we need to remember that Lent is not so much about what we do but much more about letting God do what God desires to do in our lives.

Giving up chocolate for Lent? Not so hard.

Letting God in to change my heart and my life?
Prayer, fasting and works of mercy are ways to open me to what God wants to do.

Just because I haven't prayed this Lent... Just because I haven't fasted this Lent... Just because I haven't given to the poor this Lent doesn't mean that God hasn't been moving in my heart and life. Once again: God doesn't wait for us but rather starts working on us long before we invite him in.

Take a look at the seed germinating in the illustration above. Before we ever see a green shoot poke its head above the soil, God is at work bringing that seed to life. And so it is with us. Even before we are aware of it, God is working within us...

Regardless of your Lenten practice, what do you suppose God has been wanting to do in our heart, in your life these past Lenten weeks? What work needs to be done? How is the seed of God's Spirit germinating beneath the surface? When the shoot comes forth and you see it - will you welcome it?

God has been busy in each of us in these first five weeks of Lent? What has he been doing? Will we welcome the harvest he seeks?

  2. In some strange way ... I do believe... God is trying to work His way into my heart. I've been resistant... but he keeps on knocking. And through comments on this blog, and through my own thoughts and prayers, I think for the first time in my life ... I'm finding answers. I only hope my insight to God, continues. :-) Even those whose comments are angry, (michael), They are very insightful and helpful.
