The second scripture this Sunday gives us a preview of coming attractions: Easter! This beautiful verse (Ephesians 5:14) is likely a quotation from an early Christian hymn:
Awake, O sleeper,
and arise from the dead,
and Christ will give you light.
and arise from the dead,
and Christ will give you light.
What sleep of winter do we I need to wake from?
From what do I need to arise?
How might I reach out and let the Lord take my hand, to lift me up?
Into what darkness of mine does Christ come as Light?
