Saint Augustine
We couldn't observe St. Monica's day (August 27) and then forget her son Augustine's day (August 28).
St. Augustine is one of the most influential persons in the history of Christendom. His influence on theology and church life is great.
My post last year on the eve of St. Augustine's feast might be worth rereading - or reading for the first time for those who have joined this page since last summer. If for no other reason, click the link to read Augustine's well known prayer, Late have I loved you...
(The image is from the art work of John Nava, installed at the Cathedral of Our Lady of the Angels in Lost Angeles. Links for information on the artist and the cathedral tapestries are in the previous post. Click on the image on the left for a larger version - Augustine is in the middle of these five saintly figures)

The "Late Have I Loved You" prayer is so beautiful. Thank you for drawing it to my attention again.
