Praise his holy name!

This afternoon the combined choirs of Holy Family Parish and West Concord Union Church presented a concert titled, With One Voice! The choirs included two adult choirs and three young people's choirs from the two faith communities.

I wish you all could have been there! The several choirs each performed individually and in different combinations - sometimes intergenerationally and that definitely brought tears of joy to my face.

The program was chock full of just the kind of music that you need to hear in February in New England.

My favorite choral piece from the concert was Praise His Holy Name by Keith Hampton. I was especially pleased when the director chose this as an encore! Here's a recording of it by the Georgia Mass Choir. This one piece will do a good job of communicating the spirit of the concert and I can testify that this afternoon's performance of this piece was just as beautiful and exciting as the audio here!

Sing 'til the power of the Lord come down.
Shout Hallelujah, praise his holy name!

Sing 'til the power of the Lord come down.
Shout Hallelujah, praise his holy name!

Amazing grace how sweet the sound that saved a wretch like me

I once was lost but now I'm found, was blind but now I see!

Jesus, Jesus how I love thee. Shout Hallelujah, Praise his holy name!

Must Jesus bear the Cross alone, and all the world go free?

No, there's a cross for everyone and there's a cross for me!

Jesus, Jesus how I love thee. Shout Hallelujah, Praise his holy name!

Holy Jesus, praise his name, Hallelujah, Praise his holy name!

  1. I took my 5 1/2 year old and 4 year old grandchildren to the concert this afternoon. They enjoyed the music almost as much as I did. They were very well behaved (we actually sat in the pew behind you) but I could tell they were getting fidgety after one hour. I left before the adult choirs sang.

I am sure there will be another concert but next time I will think twice about bringing any children (without their parents) so I can stay for the entire performance - is that being selfish?

  2. I thought the concert was really beautiful. I enjoyed all of it, but I must say the duet of The Prayer was breathtaking. Another highlight - the voices of the two young boys - crystal clear and perfect pitch - splendid! Thanks to all who made this a very special afternoon.
