Word for the Season
Even now, says the LORD,
return to me with your whole heart...
Joel 2:12

Joel 2:12
Word for the Day
You are my refuge, Lord.
Into your hands I commend my spirit;
you will redeem me, O faithful God.
My trust is in you, O Lord;
I say, "You are my God."
In your hands is my destiny;
rescue me, O Lord...

Reflection
Sometimes, absolute confidence in God
is my ultimate refuge,
my hope when hope is gone...
Other times, such confidence in God
is what I know I need
but find difficult to trust...
In all times,
free-falling into the arms of God
is what the Lord invites
and where I will find my peace...
Prayer
I return to you today, Lord,
with a heart wanting very much
for you to hold me
as a lover envelops the beloved,
as a friend hugs a friend,
as a mother takes a child to her breast...
My heart is restless, Lord,
until it rests in you
but unsure that you will hold, enfold,
mold me to your chest...
Unless, until I fall from fear
into your waiting arms
how will I know you'll catch
and snatch me from memories,
dreams and schemes
too much for me to bear?
To live in the pain
or to risk the falling freely
into unknown depths of your love :
this my heart fears and longs to do...
Draw me to the brink of grace, Lord,
and nudge my heart
to step out in trust
and into your waiting arms...
I trust you, Lord,
and pray you will trust me
to return to you this Lent, day by day,
with my whole heart...
Amen. 2009LentPostCollection

These days I place all m trust in the Lord. What else is there ??
ReplyDelete...well, here I am again... a new day, starting over, again... one day at a time...
ReplyDeletetrying to work on my fears- figure them out- I don't want to live in this pain anymore, the pain of the past, present... the fear of the future. But it has a lot of control.
God, I want to "free-fall" into your arms and feel safe and comforted, but-
please, God, help me.
great prayer!!! It is not fear for me, it's accepting and remembering that I am worth that much.
ReplyDeleteHere's a link to a much earlier post on free falling into God's love:
ReplyDeletethank you for the link...
ReplyDeleteIn my reading today--
ReplyDeletePsalm 118 v 13-14
I was pushed hard, so that I was falling
but the Lord helped me.
The Lord is my strength and my might,
he has become my salvation.
