Kay Ryan's poetry comes in small servings with words chosen carefully and used sparingly. After writing today's Morning Offering I found this poem valuable for my Lenten reflection...
Do I have more than I need?
Do I recognize all that I have?
Of all that I have, what have I yet to own?
Do I recognize all that I have?
Of all that I have, what have I yet to own?
Ticket
This is the ticket
I failed to spend.
It is still in my pocket
at the fair's end.
It is not only
suffering or grief
or even boredom
of which we are
offered more than
enough.
