A day in May by the Spirit blessed

Blue Iris by Philip Elsing

It's the time of year when you can walk out of your house and find yourself enveloped in fresh air, sunlight, trees greening and buds blooming with spring.

As they say, "It does a body good!"

The same can happen in the heart at any time of year but when it happens on a day like today it's a double blessing.

"It does a soul good!"

Such was this day outside my door and in my soul and for that, I thank the God of my life...

PRAYING

It doesn't have to be
the blue iris, it could be
weeds in a vacant lot, or a few
small stones; just
pay attention, then patch

a few words together and don't try
to make them elaborate, this isn't
a contest but the doorway

into thanks, and a silence in which
another voice may speak.

  1. Glad you enjoyed this beautiful day in the body and soul.....I did the same. God is good.

  2. this poem is a good reminder for someone (like me) who tends to be hard on and critical of him/herself...
to remember that simple is "better" and the little things count so much...
