The Pine Street bridge in Concord has been closed for 14 months for a $1.35 million project which replaced an aging bridge with a new single span concrete structure - but the Pine Street bridge is open once again!
This matters little for many of my readers but for folks in Concord, especially West Concord - this is big news! Pine Street is one of those short cuts around traffic and lights that can make your drive - and therefore your life - just a little easier. With the bridge out, Pine Street was closed to through traffic - and 14 months can be a long time.
The reopening of the Pine Street bridge has me thinking about the more important bridges we all need... bridges that are sometimes closed... the bridges that get us from where we are to where we want to be...
the bridge of trust we need to repair broken relationships...And the greatest of all the bridges we have: Jesus the Lord...
the bridge of this day's faith leading us from yesterday to tomorrow...
the bridge of love carrying us over the depths of loneliness...
the bridge of truth spanning the confusion of doubt...
the bridge of hope we walk, not knowing what's on the other side...
the bridge of light leading us through the darkness of fear...
the bridge of prayer crossing over the rough waters of troubled days and seasons...
He is the bridge from sin to grace, from despair to hope, from death to life...
The bridge of Christ's love is always open, never closed, ever strong...
His bridge is built of the wood of the Cross, sealed in his blood, evergreen with his life and strength...
Safe passage is the gift of the Lord's bridge: welcoming all, closed to none, leading only to the peace he has promised...

my "bridge" goes out a lot-
ReplyDeleteand is always in need of repair-
sometimes, it seems the bridge is not there at all-
but I think I have the best contractor/engineer/bridge builder...
God.
and He is not asking $1.35 million, but something (I think) worth much more...
my faith and love and trust...
