You might want to listen to the tenor aria from Handel's Messiah (see the music widget on the sidebar, number 7) while contemplating the beauty of this image of mountains and valleys and the words of Isaiah, quoted in today's gospel:
A voice of one crying out in the desert:
"Prepare the way of the Lord,
make straight his paths.
Every valley shall be filled and every mountain
and hill shall be made low...
and all flesh shall see the salvation of God."
