Monday Morning Offering - 79

Coffee in the Morning by George Mendoza

Good morning, good God!

I’m fresh from Epiphany
with its star and magi and gifts...

You have revealed so much, to so many - to all!

You showed yourself as a child:
imminent and innocent,
vulnerably human, divinely loving,
inviting and intimate…

Help me see in the child, Lord,
Christ who is my brother,
my savior, my redeemer,
my prince of peace, my merciful judge,
my healing and my hope…

I pray that in this new year, Lord,
you'll continue to reveal,
to disclose, to unwrap
your presence in my life…

So, this morning I offer you my vision, Lord,
that I may see what you show me...

Help me see you
when you show yourself
in the people I don’t like,
in the people who aren’t like me,
and in the people who don’t like me…

Help me see you, Lord,
when I cannot find you....

Show me where you are
when I think you have forgotten me,
when I fear you cannot find me,
when I wonder if you have abandoned me...

Help me see you
when you pour out your healing
on my sorrow, my pain my brokenness…

Reveal yourself as the source of my joy
and show me the depths of what you have given me:
may I always give you the glory and the praise…

Help me see you
in the moment at hand, Lord,
and help me see you in my past:
show me where you are
and show me where you were…

I know you show up in my life every day, Lord!
Help me see you at every twist and turn
along the path I walk…

At least once in a while, Lord,
dazzle me with your brightness and beauty –
I need a few showstoppers
to carry me through the cloudy days,
the stormy times…

Reveal yourself to me in my prayer, Lord:
help me see the face of your presence,
an image of your compassion,
a glimpse of your love for me...

Help me see you in the church's prayer, Lord,
and uncover yourself for me
in the bread and cup of the Eucharist…

Unfold your plan for me, Lord,
and let me see where you lead me,
where you call me,
where you want me to be,
what you want me to do...

Reveal yourself in the simplicity
of the child of Bethlehem
and in love of the One
who died for me on Calvary…

This morning I offer you my vision, Lord:
all that I see
with my eyes, my heart, my mind…

Show me who you are, O God,
and keep me as the apple of your eye…

Amen.

"keep me as the apple of your eye"....oh what a comforting thought for a fatherless daughter. Thank you, Father.

so many things here fit-

here:

"Help me see you, Lord,
when I cannot find you...

Show me where you are
when I think you have forgotten me,
when I fear you cannot find me,
when I wonder if you have abandoned me... "

...and... when OTHERS have forgotten me- abandoned me-

and here:

"Unfold your plan for me, Lord,
and let me see where you lead me,
where you call me,
where you want me to be,
what you want me to do..."

it's what is happening right now for me- so relevant-
so personal...

thank you...
