With all the choirs of angels in heaven...
In preparing for Mass this weekend I looked for a preface for the Eucharistic Prayer that might resonate with the scriptures of the day. Preface VII for Sundays in Ordinary Time seemed perfect and served as a bridge between the Word and my homily and the Liturgy of the Eucharist. It was especially good to have heard proclaimed the Isaiah text which gives us the angelic hymn we sing at every Mass in the Holy, Holy, Holy. Here's the preface as I prayed it:
Father, all-powerful and ever-living God,
we do well always and everywhere
to give you thanks and praise.
So great was your love for us
that you gave us your Son, Jesus,
as our redeemer.
You sent him as one like ourselves,
though free from sin,
that you might see and love in us
what you see and love in Christ.
Your gifts of grace, lost by disobedience,
are now restored by the obedience of your Son.
And so with all the choirs of angels in heaven
we proclaim your glory
and join in their unending hymn of praise:
Holy, holy, holy Lord,
God of power and might,
heaven and earth are full of your glory.
Hosanna in the highest!
Blessed is he who comes in the name of the Lord.
Hosanna in the highest!
Thanks for sharing this - it is beautiful.
