The father and the son, yet again...
Retour de l'Enfant Prodigue by Michel Ciry
His father caught sight of him,
and was filled with compassion.
He ran to his son,
embraced him and kissed him.
(Luke 15)
I thought that over the last week or so I'd reviewed just about every image of the Prodigal Son story available on the internet, but Paul, Between the Burgh and the City, has come up with the striking contemporary rendering above by Michel Ciry, Retour de l'Enfant Prodigue.
There's something about the father-son resemblance that I find particularly striking.
And the whole story seems to be told in just their eyes...

Thank you for the link, CP!
ReplyDeleteMonths ago, I came across this image and saved it for this Sunday.
If you look through Ciry's gallery, there also are good images of Mary Magdalen and of a Benedictine monk seemingly at prayer.
Wow! That is amazing. I found and posted some interesting ones out there but this one is so striking.
ReplyDeleteAre you sure that's actually the Father and Son?
ReplyDeleteThey both look so young, I can't help but wonder if it's actually the two brothers...
(And then it is up to the viewer to determine which is which.)
Blessings,
