Scripture for the Lord's Day: I am the morning star
Depending on your geography, your parish is celebrating either the Seventh Sunday of Easter this weekend - or Ascension Day. For more on this question, please see this earlier post where you'll also find the readings for both options.
The photo above shows us Venus, the "morning star." Venus reaches its maximum brightness shortly before sunrise or shortly after sunset, for which reason it is often called the Morning Star or the Evening Star. In the closing verses of the Book of Revelation (this Sunday's second scripture in places observing the Seventh Sunday of Easter) Jesus images himself as "the bright morning star."
