Word for the Weekend: Pentecost

It's time to prepare for Pentecost Sunday!

One way to prepare is to join in the Pentecost Novena. (And it's not too late to join in praying the Novena - find the Novena series to date by clicking on the link at the top of the side bar.)

And of course pondering and praying over this weekend's readings is an excellent way to get ready for Eucharist on the Lord's day. The texts and commentary on them are right at hand - so what are you waiting for?

You'll want to note that there are different options for texts for the Pentecost Vigil Mass if you'll be worshiping on Saturday afternoon or evening. A parish celebrating a full Pentecost Vigil might have as many as four readings. A different set of readings is provided for Mass on the day of Pentecost.

Got kids? Then lead them here to help them prepare for Mass. (The children's site focuses only on the readings for Sunday celebration of Pentecost.)

Perhaps as you sit down to reflect on the scriptures for Mass this weekend, you might take a look at the widget at the top of the sidebar and choose a version or two of "Come, Holy Spirit" as music for our prayer and reflection.
