11/17/10

Yesterday the United States Conference of Catholic Bishops elected Archbishop Timothy Dolan of New York as their new president, setting aside a well established custom of electing the out-going vice-president, in this case, Bishop Gerald Kicanas of Tuscon.

In the blogosphere, this has been the source of much commentary which has often generated more heat than light.

Two reasoned post-election reflections can be found in the words of John Allen at the National Catholic Reporter and Mike Hayes at Googling God.
