I told TM I found this to be a theological diamond in the rough: not perfect, not all squared away and yet, at the same time, possessed of facets sparkling in clarity. A first year theology student will easily spot the uneven flaws here while a theology professor won't fail to see flashes of truth in Bono's remarks. And viewed in contrast with how so many celebrities speak of faith - this is a jewel!
I don't mean to overstate the value of the content here but I think you might find it interesting to see how this entertainer speaks of what he believes: the interview.

Thanks Austin. I agree that the interview is a great springboard to get a discussion of grace going and the fact that it comes from a pop star might also provide an open door for young people too to find out and discuss life and who and what Christ was all about.(although some people find Bono sanctimonious at times.)
ReplyDeleteGrace is one of the most contentious and least understood aspects of our lives. I found this article helpful and also thought provoking.

I just loved this one Austin. I agree with Philomena that it does provide an open door for young people and discussion - at least I hope so!
ReplyDeleteOur RCIA group consists of 3 adults under 30 and one who is 50!
We try to tell them there are many paths to Jesus and none of us take the EXACT same path. Same goal, same basic beliefs, but different rocks along the way.
Thanks for another gift of discussion for our group!
