SPIRIT: Holy wind, power, liquid, breath

Holy Spirit Wind and Fire by Lesley Kaye

Just in time for Pentecost Sunday, John Pilch offers us a brief lesson on how "Spirit" was understood in ancient Middle Eastern culture. Such background helps us understand better how the word "Spirit" is used in the scriptures and in the liturgy.

In this brief essay Pilch looks at the Spirit in terms of:
Wind and Power
Wind as Liquid
Wind as God's Breath
Holy Wind, Breath, Spirit, Power

In his own concise style Pilch shines a light on these aspects of understanding the Holy Spirit whose coming we celebrate this weekend.

I found the fourth category the most interesting.

Take just a few minutes (right here) - you'll be glad you did!
