I learned quite a lot from the bamboo video, but I think the rabbi left out an important point when he was talking to the young man. Someone nurtured the bamboo tree for five solid years in order for it to achieve its 6-week growth spurt. Is someone nurturing the young man or is he trying to accomplish what he wants on his own? It makes a big difference to have someone giving you the support you need...and I mean someone in addition to God.
