From the MetroDesk of Boston.com comes a headline, apparently unable to make up its mind about being politically correct or incorrect:
Beginning to look a lot like the holidays --
Christmas tree arrives at Boston Common
And if that's not enough, here's the lede (emphasis added):
The traditional Boston Common Christmas tree arrived this morning, marking the beginning of the holiday season, officials said.Perhaps I should just be happy that the word Christmas made two appearances in Amanda Cedrone's article on the tree's arrival.
This is the 40th year the people of Nova Scotia have sent a Christmas tree to the city of Boston. Wondering why? You can read all about it here and here.
And here's the... Christmas Tree!

ReplyDeleteThe history of the tree is interesting. Here in the UK the shops have been crammed with Christmas stuff for weeks and I have started to see a few outdoor lights and Christmas trees in house windows this week !!
Also, can you tell me are gifts exchanged for Thanksgiving Day or is it mainly a celebration meal ?
What do you do on Thanksgiving Day?
Blessings
Thanksgiving here centers around a gathering and dinner with family and friends. Some will participate in a church service that morning or and evening prior to Thursday. Football games (local and televised) are big for some folks!
