Hard Drive: R.I.P.
Well, it happened.
A first time for me.
My hard drive crashed and I lost a lot of files I hadn't backed up.
Part of the bad news is that among those lost files were my retreat notes from last November. I'd planned to offer some more posts on my retreat experience but without the notes, it's much more difficult to put together.
The good news is that the grace of that week in Gloucester wasn't on my laptop! The grace is alive and well and showing up in other posts here and in my ministry and prayer.
Going out to get a new laptop this week and yes, I've learned a big lesson!
(Yes, my IT guy has worked on my broken hard drive; and yes he was able to recover some files; but no, my retreat notes didn't show up.)

ReplyDeleteIt fills me with dread just thinking about it. I hope your IT guy can salvage more. Good luck with choosing new computer.
Blessings
it's always best to make sure you have gotabackup before things go wrong if you have not sorted things yet why not try www.gotabackup.com
ReplyDeleteI am so very sorry for your loss.
ReplyDeleteI feel your pain! It has happened to me and I feared that I was going to lose hundreds of files of psalm settings that a friend had sent me. But I figured out a way to email them to myself and they were saved!! I am glad that at least some of your files were salvaged!
ReplyDeleteThat's too bad. Next time, try keeping a USB or an external hard drive as an off-site backup just in case. Anyway, it's a good thing that you're opting to buy a new one rather than have your old one repaired. It might end up costing you more compared to buying a new one.
