I wish I'd written that!

Read this homily to understand the photo!

Sometimes I'll read something on another blog and say to myself, "I wish I'd written that!"  I read just such a homily today by Greg Kandra, the deacon at The Bench.

The deacon's  Epiphany homily is very fine indeed and might help you prepare for this feast before you go to church to pray.

Greg, I wish I'd written that!

  1. I think Greg's homily echoes some of the sentiments and thoughts in W.H. Auden's Poem For The Time Being.
(Sometimes referred to as the Christmas Oratorio.)

  2. I'd agree, Phil, that there are matching threads in the two pieces, though not so similar as to tempt me to think that Greg was inspired by the former composition.

  3. I didn't mean that and I don't know why you might make that assumption.

  4. I didn't mean to imply that you were trying to say that, Phil - I was just trying to temper my own take on the similarity between the two texts.
