Monday Morning Offering - 176

Good morning, good God!
Just now in my life, Lord,
there are more than the usual number
of loose ends, unanswered questions,
and forks in the road…
It’s a confusing, confounding in-between time
and I know there’s nothing I can do
to hasten a future
taking its own time
and making its own schedule…
These in-between days are too many
and too long for me to hold my breath;
and waiting for the other shoe to drop
only keeps me from all that’s mine to do
today…
So this morning, Lord,
I offer you all my anxious distraction
and pray you’ll free my mind of worries
and fill my heart with your peace…
Keep me in the moment, Lord,
in the day, in the hour at hand,
and free me for this day’s work
for this day’s joy, for this day’s grace…
Help me trust that in all times,
in joy and in sorrow,
in confusion and distraction,
in good times and in bad:
you are always with me
and you will never leave my side…
All time is yours, Lord,
and only in your time
is my past healed, my day fully lived
and my future met…
In this in-between time, Lord,
make me more patient with others
than I am with myself:
let none be burdened by my forgetting
that in days yet to come,
all shall be well;
than in your time, Lord,
all manner of things shall be well…
As I offer this prayer,
strengthen my trust in you, Lord,
and remind me
how faithfully you’ve been by my side,
behind and before me,
deep within my heart and soul,
every step along the way...
Help me worry not about tomorrow, Lord:
keep me faithful to your presence
in the moment at hand
and to whatever you might ask of me
this morning, this day, this week…
Amen.
