When Christmas is done...

"The holidays" are such a hurried, harried time.  I'm usually grateful when the "season to be jolly" is in the rear view mirror.  But rather than respite, this week has had its own share of burdens and my schedule for the next month or so doesn't look any less full than the month just past.

I was grateful, then, to come across this helpful, seasonal reminder.  Perhaps it will put things in perspective for you, too.

Now the Work of Christmas Begins

When the song of the angels is stilled,
when the star in the sky is gone,
when the kings and princes are home,
when the shepherds are back with their flocks,
the work of Christmas begins:
to find the lost,
to heal the broken,
to feed the hungry,
to release the prisoner,
to rebuild the nations,
to bring peace among the people,
to make music in the heart.

Yes, I love that poem. It was on my Christmas card one year, from the Syracuse Cultural Workers.
