Praying 10 minutes today: Thursday 5/3

Set aside some time for prayer... find a quiet place... take a few deep breaths... be still... and know that God is near...

A word to reflect on:  I will give you a new heart and place a new spirit within you, taking from your bodies your stony hearts and giving you natural hearts... you shall be my people and I will be your God...    Ezekiel 36:16-36

A new heart sounds like a good idea, Lord!
A new heart that's whole, healed, mended...
A heart that's free of burdens,
a heart no longer haunted by painful memories...
A heart softened  by compassion and generosity,
the rough edges of selfishness smoothed away...
A heart made light by your mercy and peace,
a heart I'd be proud to open and share with others...
I know I'm yours, Lord,
because I know that all belongs to you
but I also know that I hold back,
I'm often slow to offer you what is truly yours...
So, give me a new heart, Lord,
and help me surrender the stony heart within:
help me let go what I neither want nor need,
what doesn't nourish or sustain me...
Help my heart to be quiet in the stillness of your presence...
In the silence of my prayer today,
give me a new heart, Lord
and place a new spirit within me...
Help me to slow down, to be still, to pray
and to know that you are near, now, today...
