Sandy has died
but no one mourns her passing...
Before she reached our shores
she claimed some 70 lives in the Caribbean, over 50 in Haiti,
and in her wake left behind a new outbreak of cholera...
Let us pray for those who suffered Sandy's damage and devastation,
especially in the villages and lives of the poorest of the poor...
Let us pray for those who lost basic services
and their property and homes
in the islands and in the US...
And let us gratefully put in perspective
the minor inconveniences suffered by millions
who are, today, or soon will be,
back to business as usual...
