    I wish you had taken before and after pictures of the areas you cleaned. Yes, I think you should write thank you notes to those whose Christmas presents you found under the piles of stuff. A tip of the Hatlo hat on your efforts! I'm not sure if that is the right way to use that phrase, but I'll risk it.
