Due to declining health and strength, Pope Benedict XVI has announced he will resign the papacy on February 28, 2013.
Please pray for him, for the cardinals who will elect his successor and for the Church the new pope will serve.

600 years since a Pope resigned. Nice to know you get to live to see things no one has seen for that long.

ReplyDeleteunexpected, and kind of expected too...
it is not yet half-way through February and SO MUCH has happened...
(and, I sadly report that I often pass a store that posts a sign that says "Easter is here!"
Each time I pass, I want to go in and say, "No, it is not! Not yet")
