A simple blessing - for everyone

Pope Francis meets with media: AP

Pope Francis has had his first "press conference." This wasn't a Q/A but rather a papal audience for those who've been covering the story of the transition in the papacy.

Grant Gallichio over at dotCommonweal reports that the pope concluded the audience
...in rather stunning fashion:  Instead of offering his apostolic blessing aloud, he gave it in silence, acknowledging (in Spanish) that “not everyone present is a member of the Catholic faith, and others do not believe.” He continued, “I respect the conscience of all of you, knowing that each one of you is a child of God. May God bless you."
Stunning, indeed.
