Precious in the eyes of the Lord
   is the death of his faithful ones...

And precious in our eyes, too, Lord,
   is the loss of those we love:

For all who will die today,
   let us pray to the Lord...

For those who died years and decades ago,
   whose loss still stings in our hearts,
      let us pray to the Lord...
 
For all who have recently lost a loved one,
   let us pray to the Lord...

For all whose hearts are steeped in grief,
   let us pray to the Lord...

For those who have died in my family
   and among my friends,
      let us pray to the Lord...

For Easter peace for all who've gone before us
   and for us who wait to be with them again,
      let us pray to the Lord...
