will fill my thoughts today?
How many will I speak out loud?
How many will I fear to say?
How many will I pray today?
Let the words of my thoughts be pure, Lord:
true and selfless, generous and forgiving...
Let the words I speak be honest and helpful,
kind, compassionate and loving...
Give me strength to speak what I ought to say
and the wisdom of silence when that's what's best...
Keep me from mumbling under my breath
any words I'll regret once they're heard...
Keep me from saying the mean word, the harsh word,
the hurtful word that wounds...
Fill my mouth with words of healing, words of peace
and words that offer others joy...
Lord, slow me down to speak my words
of praise and thanks to you in prayer today...
