Pause for Prayer: SATURDAY 7/6

One thing I ask of the Lord,
      this I seek...
- Psalm 27:4


One thing?
I ask you for so many things, Lord!

I ask for things for myself 
   and I ask for things for others, too...

Were I to give you my wish list today, Lord,
   I'd ask you for...

But what if I could only ask for one thing, Lord?
What would that one thing be?
What would be the greatest thing I could ask for? 
What would be the most important gift I could pray for?
Would the one thing I ask of you
   be the one thing you want me to have?
What would that one thing be, Lord?

So many things are lacking in my life
   and in the lives of those I care and pray for:
I want so many things,
I desire so many things,
I envy and want what others have,
I need so much...

Help me know the one thing you most want me to have, Lord,
   and help me pray that I might want the same and find it...
