Every year on the First Sunday of Lent we hear the story of Christ being tempted in the desert. And every year on the Second Sunday of Lent we hear the story of the Transfiguration. The beginning of every year, then, brings us from the desert to the mountain top.
In preparing for this Sunday's worship you might give some thought to two questions:
1) What have been the "desert" and the "mountain top" experiences in your own life - and how was God with you in those times?
2) In this Sunday's second lesson, St. Paul reminds us to "Bear your share of hardship for the gospel with the strength that comes from God." What share of hardship for the gospel do you bear in your life - and how is God helping you bear that burden?And... take some time to prepare by reading over this weekend's scriptures and some brief commentary on them here. Bringing children to church this weekend? You'll find tips here to help your young ones get ready to hear the Lord's Word.
