Here's a challenge - no ice bucket involved!
Christians will observe the Sabbath tomorrow, not today,
but you'll need a little time to prepare to meet my challenge.
Need a day off from it all?
That's just what the Sabbath was meant to be!
A day of rest, a day for prayer...
Of course, some folks (like me!) have to work on the Sabbath.
But that doesn't relieve me (or you) from the responsibility
or, more accurately, the opportunity to set aside
some time for rest and some time for prayer,
on the Sabbath...
Spend a moment or two with these words:
If you don't take a Sabbath,So here's the challenge:
something is wrong. You're doing too much, you're being too much in charge. You've got to quit, one day a week, and just watch what God is doingwhen you're not doing anything.~ Eugene Peterson
which part of it can you complete?
If not the whole day tomorrow,
what part of your day
will you set aside for rest and prayer?
If not a part of the day,
what hour of your day
will you set aside for rest and prayer tomorrow?
If not an hour of the day,
what break in your day
will you set aside for rest and prayer tomorrow?
Take some time to see what God is doing
when you're not doing anything...
If you're in the Concord area tomorrow,
come to Mass at 10:30 at Holy Family -
coffee and donuts right after!
But wherever you are I challenge you
to find and make some time tomorrow
for Sabbath rest and prayer...
