Word for the Weekend: NOVEMBER 9

Aerial shot of cruciform design of the Lateran Basilica in Rome.

November 9 is the Feast of the Dedication of the Lateran Basilica in Rome.

Yet again, a feast on the liturgical calendar trumps the regular Sunday scriptures and prayers (which would have been the 32nd Sunday in Ordinary Time).

Here are the scriptures and background materials for this weekend's liturgy. If you're wondering what's so important about this particular church building that it has its own day - take a look here and here.  Having satisfied that curiosity, your best bet then is to to look to the scriptures of the day - just what we do every Sunday!

Got kids? Here's some helpful info for preparing them to hear the Word at Mass this Sunday.
