Monday Morning Offering: 1/5

Good morning, good God!

You've revealed so much to so many

but so much still remains hidden,
yet to be found, yet to be known
in the universe, on earth,
in my own mind and heart...

And yet, sometimes,
I think I know it all
and you, Lord, know I don’t…

 So, I pray, Lord…

Keep me from thinking
   I know more than most
and so much more than the next guy...

Keep me from thinking
    that I've learned it all,
that I know enough to get by...

Keep me from thinking
   I know myself inside out
when only you know me that well…

Keep me from thinking
   and thinking again,
over-thinking too much and too often…

Keep me from thinking
   nothing’s new ‘neath the sun,
and that I've got it all together...

Keep me from thinking
   that others don't think:
open my mind to their thoughts...

Keep me from thinking
   my thoughts are all foolish
      - but help me know when they are...

Keep me from thinking
   I know better than you
the difference between right and wrong…

Keep me from thinking
   you’d fail to forgive
the worst of my thoughts and my deeds…

Keep me from thinking
   there’s no rhyme or reason:
fill my thoughts with deep trust in your plan…

Keep me from thinking
   the worst always happens
and help me to hope for the best…

Keep me from thinking
   you don’t understand,
you who dwell in the depths of my heart…

Keep me from thinking
   I can do it alone
when I need all the help I can get…

Keep me from thinking
   I'm always at fault:
help me trust the good that I do...

Keep me from thinking
   I know all there is
to know about you and your love…

Keep me from thinking
   you’d ever forget me
or leave me alone in my fear…

Keep me from thinking
   there's ever a moment
when you're not thinking of me...

Keep me from thinking
   I know it all, Lord,
but help me know all of your love...

Amen.
