When I speak today, Lord,

I pray that my words will be:

comforting and challenging,

gentle and strong,

discerning and truthful,

thoughtful and prudent,

discreet and straightforward,

loving and firm,

sincere and forthright,

gracious and genuine...

And when, today,

I have nothing to say:

Lord, help me keep my mouth shut!
