I didn't mean to mislead you with my teaser line in this morning's Pause for Prayer when I wrote that the song, Give Me Jesus, would connect with my homily. A number of folks expected my homily to include that tune - which it didn't. There is, however, a real connection between my morning post and my homily and that's the place of Jesus in our lives.
I have a play list of music which begins my prayer each morning and, as I noted, Give Me Jesus is the first tune on that list.
Also in my prayer each morning is Shaun Davey's setting of The Lorica of St. Patrick (titled here, The Breastplate of St. Patrick). I closed my homily with this prayer and then read it again as the post-Communion prayer. Give a listen here: I believe you'll find it musically beautiful and spiritually valuable.
