Sometimes, Lord,
a piece of news falls in my lap
landing quite softly
though I know without a doubt
the burden of its weight...
Is it heavy or light?
Good news or bad?
A beginning or an end?
A comfort or challenge?
A gain or a loss?
Or... maybe it's all of these
rolled into one
and the mystery's undone
only
in accepting the whole...
Help me then, Lord,
to bear such a burden
as I might hold a feather:
gratefully,
carefully
and with peaceful acceptance...
