It's a truth I know so well, Lord,
learned many times before,
a lesson I've forgotten
as often as I've learned it...
When I'm anxious and afraid,
disappointed or distressed,
when I'm stubbornly refusing
to change, adapt and grow
that's precisely when I need, Lord,
to act with strength and courage,
to rise up from self-pity
and pray with all my heart
to adjust and move ahead,
living in the present moment,
in the day you've made and offer,
inviting me to peace...
