We're flooded with statistics, Lord!
Testings, diagnoses, days of quarantine,
available beds, hospitalizations and... deaths...
We live by these numbers,
we live by the numbers of those who are dying...
You know all the stats, Lord:
you know their ups and downs;
you know when the curve will spike
and you know when it will flatten;
and you know the day, one day soon, I hope,
when the numbers will dwindle, at last,
to almost nothing...
But beyond the the numbers, Lord,
far beyond the graphs and data:
you know our minds and thoughts;
you know our worries and fears;
you know the secrets of our hearts...
Beyond the numbers, Lord:
you know the uncertainty of the healthy,
the pain of the sick,
the anxiety of the dying
and the sorrow of the grieving...
Beyond the numbers, Lord,
you know our names - each one of us;
you love our souls - individually;
you hear our prayers - both spoken and silent;
and you count every tear that falls from our eyes...
As night falls and this day ends,
rescue me from the statistics, Lord,
move me beyond the numbers
and take me to a prayerful place
where you call me by name,
hear my evening prayer,
heal my soul,
and wipe every tear from my eyes...
Move me beyond the numbers,
teach me to measure in seasons of love,
counting on your love, Lord,
help me remember your love...
Protect me, Lord, while I'm still awake
and watch over me when I finally nod,
that awake, I might keep watch with you
and asleep, rest in your peace...
Amen.
Seasons of Love from Rent
Five hundred twenty-five thousand six hundred minutes
Five hundred twenty-five thousand moments so dear
Five hundred twenty-five thousand six hundred minutes
How do you measure, measure a year?
In daylights, in sunsets
In midnights, in cups of coffee
In inches, in miles, in laughter, in strife
In five hundred twenty-five thousand six hundred minutes
How do you measure, a year in the life?
How about love?
How about love?
How about love?
Measure in love
Seasons of love
Seasons of love
Five hundred twenty-five thousand six hundred minutes
Five hundred twenty-five thousand journeys to plan
Five hundred twenty-five thousand six hundred minutes
How do you measure the life of a woman or a man?
In truths that she learned
Or in times that he cried
In bridges he burned
Or the way that she died
It's time now, to sing out
Though the story never ends
Let's celebrate
Remember a year in the life of friends
Remember the love
(Oh, you got to, you got to remember the love)
Remember the love
(Oh, you got to, you got to remember the love)
Remember the love
(Share love, give love, spread love)
Measure in love
(Measure, measure your life in love)
Seasons of love
Seasons of love
(Measure your life, measure your life in love)
