Before I go to bed tonight, Lord,
I've got a few things to ask of you:
I know it's not Christmas but I've got a wish list
- and it's long!

Please send the kiss of a good night's sleep
for those who suffer with insomnia...

Please send a much needed respite
for those who care for children and for the sick...

Please send deep peace of mind
for those who worry about loved ones in harm's way...

Please send a bushel of confidence
for the unemployed looking for a job (or two)...

Please send bags of nourishing food
for those whose fridges and cupboards are empty...

Please send baskets of sweet dreams
for children who are afraid and don't understand...

Please send your word and your truth
for those seeking to follow your way...

Please send the words of a simple prayer
for those who want to speak to you...

Please send rest and refreshment
for those who are weary and burned out...

Please send a package of joyful memories
for those who grieve a loss...

Please send your wisdom and counsel
for those who govern your people...

Please send your reconciling nudge
for those estranged by grudges and resentments...

Please send bright rays of hope
for those lost in discouragement and doubt...

Please send sweet relief from pain
for those suffering with chronic illness...

Please send your healing touch
for those whose hearts are torn and broken...

And please, Lord, send your amazing grace
for all who share in this prayer tonight...

Protect us, Lord, while we're still awake
and watch over us as we sleep
that awake we may keep watch with you
and asleep, rest in your peace...
