NIGHT PRAYER: Friday 7/10

Well, Lord, this is Night Prayer 100!

I didn't know where this might go - or for how long -
but I do know it's been a blessing for me
to write and share these evening prayers
with so many faithful readers...

We're all over the map, Lord: we've mostly never met
and we don't know each other's names
and yet we're all together, one in you
and in the Spirit you send to rock us to sleep,
give us good rest and wake us when the new day dawns...

I hope these nightly prayers and songs might bring some
light in the shadows, peace for the troubled,
serenity for the anxious, joy for the grieving,
hope for the discouraged, faith for doubters
company for the lonely - and a lullaby
to calm our anxious, restless hearts
'til they rest, at last, in you...

Protect all of us, Lord, while we're awake
and watch over us all while we're asleep
that awake, we might keep watch with you
and asleep, rest in your arms, in your peace...

Amen.

Psalm 133 by Richard Proulx and The Cathedral Singers

In the silent hours of night bless the Lord!

O come bless the Lord, all you who serve the Lord,
who stand in the house of the Lord,
in the courts of the house of our God.

Lift up your hands to the holy place
and bless the Lord through the night.

May the Lord bless you from Zion,
he who made both heaven and earth.

Glory to the Father and to the Son and to the Holy Spirit,
as it was in the beginning, is now and will be forever. Amen.

In the silent hours of night bless the Lord!
